Interview with Connor

Connor

I met Connor through the festival organizers and later his parents. @Hedgwatch also caught up with him in the Songlines tent: when I mentioned we are about to interview a young, talented boy she bet it was him. Wychwood is such a lovely, small venue, that you come across the same people all the time. We have seen Connor walking with his dad on Sunday morning, on our way from Thrill Collins gig, wearing those t-shirts.

For me personally those two photos express the family friendly spirit of the event!

The reason why we wanted to talk to Connor is not only because he is an amazing person, but also to hear about his experiences of Wychwood Festival. He started attending it at the age of 8, and this year was his 4th festival, so I really wanted to hear how he saw the event growing, developing, evolving. I also wanted to know what are the elements that Wychwood managed to maintain and build on. Here is our conversation:

Connor has a band and wants to be a music journalist in the future.

Wychwood - last bits

We are back home, but here is the last batch of our photo memories.

It was a privilege to be there, listen to great music, meet NGO's and share the experience with extremely interesting people!

Thank you in the name of bloggers team for the invitation!

Hope to see you next year!

Wychwood surprise gig!:)

Now, I really enjoyed this one!:) Thrill Collins have performed for campervan attendees today in the morning, just to reward them for the additional costs they had to pay for their camping tickets. Tony and his wife have kindly agreed for the band to perform in their 'front garden' which was situated in front of one of the main paths - so not only did we, geeks; press and neighboring families enjoy the gig, but also anyone else who was passing by on the way to the main venue;) Awesome!

I will put up more Qik videos later, for now enjoy the photos and check their site.

To the organisers: feedback on the gig was great. The more artists hanging around tents and vans and playing their music, the better;) Thank you!

Wychwood day 2 - getitng to know the atmosphere better;)

Yesterday was so intense we didn't get to post about it in the evening, so apologies!

We talked to few charities, we listened to the gigs, but mainly started to talk to people asking them, why do they really come back to Wychwood every year? Personally I start to see the reasons behind this loyalty - safe and clean venue, plenty kids activities, quality niche music (niche, but good for everyone), plenty of choice when it comes to food, as well as  - or maybe MOST OF ALL wonderful, friendly people, who will support you, chat to you and advise you on best bit of the festival.

I had a simple situation last night on the way back from the tent to the main venue - dead tired I stumbled on someone passing by, who turned around and apologized just as warmly as I did. This kindness and warmth is what I keep on picking up all around.

There is no need to prepare before this one, just come over and enjoy the magic:)

Wychwood first morning:)

Waking up in the sun was great!:) The slow morning in the grass, with all possible devices, discussing the day!

Coffee, Black Balsam and banana pancakes - best morning EVER!:)

We are at the press tent now, waiting to announce an activity on Twitter, so watch out for #wychwoodfest again;)

first evening at Wychwood

We had so much fun tonight discovering different areas of Wychwood Festival!:)

People were relaxing when we go there. By the time Levellers were on the stage we managed to find the press tent and set this blog up;) as we finished first post we already had to leave, but actually maybe it was a better idea as we were forced to look around the remaining bits of the festival.

Enjoying elderflower and plum soda, later a beer in the BBC tent, finally closing the day with the @byronhamburger!:)

And now, back in the tent, tweeting, blogging...in silence as we are in the quiet area;) Nitenite!
